*Enterprise shared this message early on November 6

While we are still awaiting results for control of the House, as well as the outcome in hundreds of state and local elections, we know that President Trump will return to the White House and Republicans will control the Senate.

As you all know, no matter who sits in the Oval Office or holds the gavel, Enterprise has always been committed to ensuring affordable housing is front and center in Washington and across the country.

As we have done for more than four decades, we will work with the new administration, Congress, and state and local officials to further our goal of providing an affordable home for the millions of people without one. That work remains unchanged.

Affordable housing is on the radar like never before in my career. Make no mistake; that didn’t happen by chance. Together, with your support, we have put housing on the national policy agenda – and we intend to keep it there. People across this country, from small towns to Tribal communities to big cities and everywhere in between, are crying out for solutions to our affordability crisis. We owe them everything in our power to ensure an affordable home is within reach for everyone.

We treasure our nonpartisan reputation, and we have a long history of reaching across party lines. We have worked with Republicans and Democrats and independents not just in Washington but in state houses and city council chambers across the nation. That reputation gives us a unique power in our field, a kind of credibility that few wield.

In the days ahead, we’ll be sharing with members of the incoming administration and Congress our agenda to create and preserve affordable homes, advance racial equity, and support resilience and upward mobility – the core pillars of our mission. We will advocate with President Trump’s transition team to ensure affordable housing is among the highest priorities. As we have done for more than 40 years, we will call out proposals and plans that threaten our progress – and prey on our divisions – and we will demand effective, proven solutions.

There’s no question our country is deeply divided. That’s as true today as it was the day before the election. But in the midst of that, let’s give thanks that we live in a country where the people choose their leaders. And I hope you’ll join me in committing to listen a little harder to our friends and neighbors who see the world differently so we can find common ground. Enterprise’s success has always been rooted in our ability to build consensus and reject divisiveness, and in the months ahead, I’ll be calling on all of you to help us build the broad-based alliance we will need to make opportunity and affordability possible for all.

This election reminds us that we must look to ourselves and our growing movement to advance our cause. As Jim Rouse said, “We can't accept life as it is in this country. It has got to change. And it has got to be changed radically by us.”
