“We applaud the City Council for voting in favor of City of Yes. This step represents a potential turning point in New York City’s affordable housing crisis.”

The advancement of City of Yes for Housing Opportunity, in yesterday’s vote, alongside significant funding commitments, is a huge step forward for low- and moderate-income New Yorkers.  We applaud Mayor Adams and his Administration who worked tirelessly to advance the proposal to this stage, Governor Hochul for stepping in with necessary State funds, and Speaker Adams and members of the Council for insisting on a housing plan that goes beyond zoning changes to include investments in rental assistance, affordable housing development and preservation, tenant protections, and agency staffing.

Importantly, modifications to the plan over the course of the negotiations did not compromise the citywide nature of the impact, maintaining the obligation for all community districts to participate in housing supply solutions.

Additionally, the announced investments in the agreement include key priorities identified by Enterprise, including additional funding for housing capital, CityFHEPS, agency staffing, and tenant protections. Creating a sustainably affordable city involves comprehensive solutions and deep investment. This plan takes that approach, and we will work to build on the momentum to ensure investments are impactful and lasting.”
