WASHINGTON, DC (January 27, 2021) – Today, Enterprise Community Partners released its 2021 playbook: Making Homes Places of Pride, Power and Belonging: Enterprise’s Policy Priorities for 2021. From solutions on how to address the Covid-19 housing disaster to eliminating racial disparities in the housing market, Enterprise’s playbook includes 47 results-driven recommendations the Biden-Harris Administration and Congress should implement to ensure safe, stable and affordable housing for all Americans.

“Every American deserves access to housing that is affordable, stable and safe,” said Jacqueline Waggoner president, Solutions Division, Enterprise Community Partners. “Far too many are one paycheck away from experiencing homelessness or eviction, especially in communities of color. Housing affordability and access must be a fundamental component of the recovery from Covid-19. Enterprise looks forward to continuing to work with Congress and the Biden-Harris Administration to set our country on a path to a better tomorrow.”
Enterprise’s 2021 playbook identifies 47 proven, evidence-based housing policy recommendations the Administration and Congress should take to ensure millions more of Americans do not end up homeless and homeowners are not left without a lifeline – including the nearly 40 million Americans who could face eviction and foreclosure proceedings when the recently extended moratorium ends on March 31.
“Families, communities, our economy and our nation benefit when everyone has a safe, stable home they can afford, so we need to keep innovating until we get there,” said Marion McFadden, senior vice president, public policy, Enterprise Community Partners. “Our policy playbook shows how we can harness the public and private sectors to address market failures and systemic inequities. The recommendations included are crucial to addressing two of the biggest challenges of our day: eliminating enduring racial disparities and preparing for our new climate future. Enterprise looks forward to working with the Biden Administration, Congress and our partners to spark change and build a new future that works for all Americans.”
Some of the most urgent priorities included in the playbook are providing rental assistance to support tenants and housing providers as a form of Covid-19 relief; increasing investments in federal affordable housing programs so we can expand the supply of affordable homes; and providing resources to address climate change, improve disaster recovery and resilience and support fair housing by reinstating the Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing rule.
