Baltimore, MD – Enterprise Community Development, the largest nonprofit affordable housing provider in the Mid-Atlantic, has been named 2026 Owner of the Year by Engineering News-Record (ENR) MidAtlantic. This prestigious recognition celebrates Enterprise’s leadership, innovation, and sustained excellence in delivering high-quality, affordable housing communities across the region.
Engineering News-Record (ENR) is a leading U.S. trade publication covering the construction, engineering, and infrastructure sectors since 1874. Its annual Owner of the Year recognition honors organizations that demonstrate excellence in leadership, collaboration and long-term value across the planning, construction and delivery of complex projects. Enterprise Community Development was selected for its ability to deliver high-quality housing at scale while navigating complex financing, prioritizing sustainability and maintaining a deep commitment to residents and the communities it serves.
“We are deeply honored to receive this recognition from ENR MidAtlantic,” said Janine Lind, President of Enterprise Community Development. “Being named Owner of the Year reflects the intentional way our team approaches development with rigor, creativity, and a long-term commitment to quality. We see ownership not simply as delivering projects, but as being thoughtful stewards of communities, trusted partners to our design and construction teams, and accountable to the residents who call our communities home.”
Over the past year, Enterprise Community Development advanced a broad portfolio of initiatives that underscore this mission-driven approach. These include the development and redevelopment of affordable and mixed-income communities, the preservation and modernization of aging housing stock, and strategic investments in sustainability and resident services. Across its portfolio, Enterprise strengthened long-term affordability while advancing clean energy solutions, transit oriented development, and resident informed programming designed to promote housing stability and economic opportunity.
This recognition highlights Enterprise’s ability to operate as both a mission-driven nonprofit and a sophisticated real estate owner, managing complexity across multiple markets, layered financing structures, public-private partnerships, and evolving community needs.
As the largest nonprofit affordable housing owner and developer in the Mid-Atlantic, Enterprise Community Development collaborates closely with public agencies, lenders, contractors, and nonprofit partners to deliver housing that is durable, well-designed, and responsive to local priorities. The organization is widely recognized for integrating sustainability, resident services, and long-term affordability into its ownership model, ensuring that its communities remain stable, vibrant assets for generations to come.
“Affordable housing development is increasingly complex, and this recognition underscores the strength of the partnerships and expertise required to do it well,” Lind added. “Our success is driven by collaboration across sectors, across disciplines, and with residents, and we’re proud to be setting a standard for what mission-driven ownership can look like.”
The Owner of the Year honor reflects Enterprise Community Development’s leadership as a long-term steward of affordable housing across the Mid-Atlantic. As the region’s largest nonprofit affordable housing owner and developer, Enterprise oversees a $1.25 billion portfolio of 117 communities and 13,000 homes, pairing rigorous ownership with resident-centered services, durable design, and a commitment to long-term affordability.
