Washington, D.C. (April 24, 2025) – Enterprise Community Partners (Enterprise) today announced that it has successfully appealed the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) decision to terminate the organization’s Community Compass and Distressed Cities technical assistance agreements, vital work that helps preserve and create affordable homes nationwide.

Shaun Donovan, President and CEO, said the following:

“We are pleased to share that HUD has restored our Community Compass and Distressed Cities agreements. This decision ensures we can continue our work providing technical assistance to communities experiencing economic distress and those most in need of support in neighborhoods nationwide.

“The restoration of these agreements means we can resume critical programming—supporting local governments, nonprofits, and communities working to recover, rebuild, and thrive.

“We extend our sincere thanks to our partners, funders, and staff for their patience, commitment, and unwavering belief in our mission during this time of uncertainty. Together, we remain focused on building equitable, resilient communities nationwide, and we look forward to continuing this vital work with HUD and communities across the country.”

In February, HUD issued a termination notice withdrawing nearly $10 million in technical assistance funding, which supports the critical work of building and preserving affordable homes in communities across the country. Following a formal appeal and continued engagement with HUD, the agency has now reversed its decision, reinstating Enterprise’s Community Compass and Distressed Cities agreements and reaffirming its partnership with Enterprise.
