Enterprise Community Development Celebrates Opening of $30 Million Mixed-Income, Mixed-Use Development in Jackson Ward

Enterprise Community Development, the country’s fifth largest nonprofit affordable housing developer, is pleased to announce the recent addition of two new leaders to its senior leadership team. Ben Hyman began earlier this month as the organization’s new senior operations manager, and Nii Sowah will step into the role of vice president of Community Impact Strategies in early September.

The Los Angeles Business Council (LABC), together with affordable housing nonprofit Enterprise Community Partners (Enterprise), is launching a coalition in support of a series of proposals issued by the Governor’s Council of Regional Homeless Advisors. Led by Richard Ziman, Chairman of Rexford Industrial and LABC Founder, and Jacqueline Waggoner, Vice President & Southern California Market Leader for Enterprise, the group is focused on establishing public-private partnerships to eliminate homelessness statewide.

Through the Housing Affordability Breakthrough Challenge, a nationwide competition that began in January 2020, six winning organizations will each receive $2 million in grants and two years of technical assistance valued at $500,000 to bring innovative concepts to market. Winning breakthrough ideas include building more equitable, healthier and resilient homes that radically reduce carbon emissions, re-engineering the affordable housing delivery system, and rethinking community reentry by building dignity through a home.

Enterprise Community Partners (Enterprise) announced today that Drew Warshaw will serve as the first Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Enterprise and its family of companies.

Through Homekey, these 45 grantees received a combined $266 million from California’s federal Covid-19 relief and general funds to acquire hotels, motels, apartments and other buildings and created more than 2,300 interim or permanent, long-term homes for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
