In the nine months since I joined the Enterprise family as Southern California market leader, it’s safe to say that the honor that I hold for this seat continues to grow every day.
The people at the forefront of my mind, since well before my very first day on the job, have been those experiencing homelessness and those on the brink of experiencing it.
I am proud to lead a passionate and highly skilled team driving positive outcomes every day for these very people that lead to a significant impact for the region. I am truly honored and grateful for our donors and partners who make this work possible.
A sampling of 2021 activities and impacts include:
-
Deploying grants for operating support to seven affordable housing providers led by and serving communities of color, collectively serving more than 13,000 people, to stabilize operations and meet their residents’ and communities’ most pressing needs
-
Providing direct technical assistance to an additional 14 affordable housing providers to help them and their constituents respond to and recover from the pandemic, helping them keep more than 70 people employed, particularly frontline staff who are dedicated to residents’ health and well-being, including many who have lived experience with homelessness and/or domestic violence
-
Structuring the preservation of 717 at-risk permanent supportive housing SRO dwellings, across 10 properties, through the City of Los Angeles’ renewal of affordable terms and modifications to antiquated financing and regulatory agreements
-
Stabilizing 94 apartment homes for low- and moderate-income households, across 45 small and medium multifamily properties in South Los Angeles owned by Black, Indigenous and people of color (BIPOC) landlords
While I am certainly proud of these high-impact efforts, the goal of providing an affordable home for everyone in our region remains unfulfilled. As we go into this holiday season, I ask that you reflect on those things for which you are most grateful and to also rededicate yourself in the New Year to the important housing challenges of our time.
I look forward to listening, learning, leading, and working alongside you toward the common goals of providing an affordable home, tools for resiliency and a path for upward mobility for every individual in our region.
